DHOKLA

Khaman Dhokla is a very popular Gujarati snack that is light, fluffy, tasty and healthy. It is easy to prepare ,is sweet and has an tangy taste.

Dhokla is basically made of batter derived from mixture of rice and Urad dal, whereas Khaman is typically made from chickpeas gram and looks yellow in color. 

I will be sharing the recipe for Khaman dhokla.You can make this easy instant dhokla recipe at home and enjoy with your loved ones. It is one of the best breakfast options to have as it is light and fills your stomach quickly. 

Khaman dhokla is traditionally steamed and tempered with sesame seeds, chillies and coriander leaves.

RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
2 cups gram flour or besan
4 tsp semolina or suji
1/2 tsp turmeric powder or haldi
1 lemon
3 tsp eno or 2 sachet eno
Pinch of hing
1 tbsp oil

For tempering
1 glass water
Juice of 1 lemon 
4 tsp sugar
1 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
Few curry leaves( Kari patta)
6-7 green chillies (slit into two)
Chopped coriander leaves

PREPARATION
1. In a bowl add besan, suji, turmeric powder, hing, juice of 1 lemon and mix.
2.Add eno to the mixture and stir.
3. Now add around 1 glass water and mix gently.
4.Grease the pan and pour the batter in it.
5.Spread oil over it and steam for 25- 30 min.
6.To check insert a knife inside.If it comes clean, your dhokla is done.
7. Transfer the Khaman dhokla in a plate.
8. To prepare the tempering, in a pan add oil.
9.When oil is hot, add mustard seeds.let them crackle.
10. Add the curry leaves and slit green chillies to it.
11. Add a glass of water and sugar and let it boil.
12. Turn off the flame and add juice of one lemon to it.
13. Pour this tempering over the dhokla and let it absorb the water.
14. Serve with chutney
