Balushahi
Balushahi is a traditional dessert which is similar to glazed doughnut but differs in taste and texture. This amazing dessert is prepared using all purpose flour which is deep fried and soaked in sugar sugar.
Recipe
All purpose flour- 2 1/2 cups
Yogurt- 8 tbsp
Baking soda- 1/2 tsp
Ghee or clarified butter- 1/2 cup
Orange gel colour - 2 drops
Oil for frying
Sugar syrup- Prepare sugar syrup by boiling 1cup sugar and 1/2 cup water till it reaches a thick consistency.
Preparation
1. Mix flour and baking soda in a bowl.
2.Add ghee and crumble the mixture.
3. Further add yogurt and mix well.
4. Add water and orange colour make a soft dough.
5.Cover and keep it aside for 45 mins.
6. Take small portions of and make small sized balls.
7. Press the centre with a thumb to make a bent in it.
8. Deep fry in hot oil on medium flame till it turns golden brown.
9. Dip the balushahi in hot sugar syrup and remove after some time.
10. If you want your balushahi to be more sweet then dip it in the syrup for a longer time.
