ATTE KA HALWA

Atte ka halwa made from whole wheat flour or atta, ghee and sugar is a popular sweet made in north India. It can be consumed on a festival, celebration or when you feel like having something sweet. It can also be served as a dessert after meals.

This atte ka halwa is smooth, rich, tasty, delicious and melt in mouth delicacy. It is loaded with ghee and dry fruits.You can also store the halwa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. When you want to consume, just take it out, heat for 1-2 minutes in a microwave and serve.

It is also known as kada prashad which is served in gurdwaras as a prashad.

RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
3/4  cup clarified butter (ghee)
1 cup wholewheat flour (atta)
1 cup sugar
2 cups water
10-12 raisins
5-6  chopped almonds
5-6  chopped cashewnuts

PROCEDURE
1. Heat the clarified butter or ghee in a heavy bottomed kadai or pan.
2.Add whole wheat flour or atta to the hot ghee and start roasting it.
3. Keep the pan on a medium flame stirring till its color changes and you get the aroma of roasted whole wheat flour.
4. Meanwhile, take sugar and water in another pan and bring the solution to boil.
5.Keep stirring the flour till its golden brown and starts leaving ghee.
6. Keep the flame high . Now add the water and sugar solution to the atta mixture and keep stirring continuous so that no lumps are formed.
7.Be careful the mixture might splutter.
8. Atta ka halwa will absorb water and start to thicken.
9.keep stirring till it absorbs all water and is semi thick.
10. Add the dry fruits and mix well.
11.Serve the halwa hot.
